Santa Cruz, SF, and back.
This is the second installment of my road trip with the RVCA dudes up north to SF and back. Once we got to SF, we got some super fun waves at Ocean Beach, where there was a contest being held. Big shifty beach break peaks were fun.

Finally met up with Al Knost and his magic red van in the city.
We all caravanned down to OB to get some surf.
Knost shapes a lot of his own boards. Below, contemplating the risk vs reward ratio of a heavy leashless retro single fin in double overhead + beachbreak that breaks what seems like a half a mile out to sea.
Knost, cruising to the waters edge.
Below is Dominic (sleeping) and Tanner Praire, hanging in Knosts van. Tanner was feeling a bit under the weather most the trip.
Mid day van chill session with Ford and Ellis manning the super 8
Alex is shooting his lookbook for his signature clothing line with RVCA. Ford poses in the hotel room.
This photo below is of Ellis, who hand shaped this stringerless flat-as single fin. He’s tested it in big Indo Desert Point tubes and its proven to work.
The Road to Bolinas.
The San Fran city scape
The obligatory Golden Gate bridge shot with some lines creeping in at fort point below.
Below are some of the display photos in the SF RVCA store of mine. Mexico to the left, and over the shoulder of Danny Fuller in New York. Nice seeing work of mine up places.
The outside window display. Knost in mexico.
We ran into the OTHER Keegan with RVCA, Keegan Sauder. Keegan’s unite.
At some dive bar, MKUE is up.
Knost.
The below photos are a sort of behind the scenes of Knost shooting some more of his upcoming line.
The next morning, we were back on the road. GVC-Good Vibes Crew and DFW Down For Whatever.
The Great Red Van on the Great Highway.
Tanner on the train tracks standing next to the low key Gothic Dolphins tag.
Locals in SC say no valley kooks allowed.
Knost has honestly one of the most original styles and approaches waves in a completely different way than I have ever seen in person. Really rad checking him out. And to be honest, I have to admit I completely passed judgement on him before I knew him and kinda wrote him off. After doing my first trip with him I was blown away.
We went for a bowl in Santa Cruz. Ford below.
Met up with Film Maker and Artist Thomas Cambell and he threw some rocks with us.
Knost, Jack Coleman and Thomas.
The next morning we thought it would be a good idea to check some super localized spots with a bunch of dudes and cameras. Sick idea especially when once we got to the sand and the waves were good, we got screamed at “Split Kooks!” I love localism. Honestly. So awesome. Keeping the dream of “Secret” waves alive.
Ford Archbold about to jump off the rock at Steamers Lane.
Ellis shot from the cliff above.
Target practice with the one pump bbgun.
And thats all she wrote. 101 B-line back to Malibu. I had a few days at home, and am now in Hawaii. I will be posting some hawaii photos up soon. Aloha!
Beautiful pictures! Love the second last picture with the moon!
Gotta love 4 mile! That wave is so fun, but it’s run by a bunch a meth addicts. Not too different from other local scenes in Santa Cruz.
Man, the pic through the front window of the van is amazing! (Well, they all are, but that one is outstanding 🙂
Greetz from Germany!
not enough shots of actual surfing…trying to sell clothes? lifestyle? i don’t get it…
sorry for the hate in my last post… unwarranted. blaming internet anonymity..and a pissy mood
Reblogged this on localbonnie and commented:
Ok So 2 reblogs today 🙂 Simply because the first one is a place here in Cali I’ve never been … yet and of course the quality and beauty of the shoots are stunning.
For this second reblog ( A Blog from Keegan Gibbs ) Seems to continually capture me with his style and enjoyment for Cali’s beaches, city and countryside. We get it all here and I can’t get enough of SF & Santa Cruz myself so thank you Keegan for these awesome takes!
+ Sexy Surfers FTW
