The workhorse camera that I have used on so many projects in the last 4 years I am finally parting with. The inevitable move to digital SLR’s is upon me.

She treated me well, and didnt complain once as I dragged her half way around the world with me from white sand beaches in Indo to the top of disgusting bird shit filled billboards in hollywood in the middle of the night. The Canon XH-A1.

cruising

Posted in friends, New York by Keegan on January 23, 2010

One of my favorite things about New York is the ability to get around the city on a skateboard just as fast, sometimes faster, on a skateboard than in a cab or subway. One night cruising across town, I shot some footage of my friend Mike Gigliotti on his flip cam. Mike edited the footage and here is the product. Music is called is “Sugar Hill” by the Crockett Family Mountaineers

While you are at it, check out some of his other videos on his vimeo page, including one of my favorites, ‘you got tre?’

Couple of the young local groms got stuck in a local lot down the street. I remember getting stuck up in the hills with friends trucks so many times when we were younger, it was fun to show up and laugh in the kids faces and help them out after.

For the New Years, I headed up to Mammoth to rekindle my love for snowboarding in powder. It worked. Didnt really take many photos though, so here are a few from the ride up in the valley.

Haiti

Posted in Indonesia, Travel by Keegan on January 20, 2010

Last year I was in Indonesia during the earthquake. Seeing the devastation first hand was life changing. I felt helpless as we stood on streets where a complete city block was turned to rumble on the ground. Now with Haiti, I again feel helpless.

We have all heard about donations through texting etc… however it felt impersonal and the politics of the delegation of the money was unsatisfying (which I say very lightly as I COMPLETELY encourage everyone to donate, even if it is just a few dollars because it will help tremendously). However, a few days back I heard from a friend that many Fed-Ex and UPS shipping centers have donation banks set up for clothes etc… I walked into my room shortly after and saw a closet full of shoes, t-shirts, jeans, sweatpants, jackets, socks etc… that I do not wear any more, or have never even been worn. So I spent an hour or so the other morning and went through my closet and pulled 10 pairs of shoes, almost 50 shirts, a dozen or so pants and jeans, shorts, jackets, sweatshirts, bathingsuits etc… and piled them up. I called a couple friends, Cutter MacLeod, Leo Harrington and Nick Katz and got them in on the donation and headed down to the local post office in Malibu with the trunk full of clothes.

I wouldn’t normally post something like this and I don’t want people to think I am trying to pat my own back, however I wouldn’t have known about it without a friend letting me know, so I am trying to use this forum as a way to let more people aware and hopefully donate.

two day

Posted in Photography, Surfing, Travel by Keegan on January 18, 2010

2 days after Christmas, my friend Travis Potter called me up and asked what I was going to be doing for the upcoming swell. Turned out I would be on a boat with him and some friends, south in Baja Mexico to head out for a couple day surf trip.
